Bersay strengthens its teams with partner hire Brice Mathieu and counsel appointment of Magda Gillaux
"Bersay appoints Brice Mathieu as partner in Corporate/M&A and promotes Magda Gillaux to counsel in Litigation & Arbitration."
Brice Mathieu brings recognised expertise in Corporate / M&A, notably on complex, often cross-border transactions. He has developed an extensive practice in leveraged buyouts (LBOs) for private equity funds and financial investors, as well as in fundraisings, external growth operations and group reorganisations. He also handles distressed M&A, capital-raising and high-stakes financial matters. Recent matters include advising a French premium small appliance group in an LBO carve-out to a Franco-Belgian group and assisting an Italian coffee group in the acquisition, from an investment fund, of a leading French roasting group. He began his career in 2006 at Eversheds, subsequently worked at Mayer Brown and Reed Smith, and served as Senior Counsel at De Gaulle Fleurance from 2016. He joined Bersay in January 2026 as a partner.
Magda Gillaux is appointed counsel within Bersay’s Litigation & Arbitration department, nearly five years after joining the firm in 2021. She advises French and international clients on complex disputes before French civil and commercial courts and in national and international arbitrations. Prior to Bersay, she practised for nearly four years at Le 16 Law, a boutique specialising in litigation and arbitration, where she gained solid experience in high-stakes matters. Her work covers shareholder disputes, post-acquisition litigation, product liability and business criminal law for large groups—particularly in the energy, telecommunications and luxury sectors—as well as for French SMEs.
Jérôme Bersay, founding partner of the firm, said the appointments strengthen Bersay’s Corporate M&A offering and reflect the firm’s commitment to developing both its international capabilities and internal talent.
