Ropes & Gray strengthens Paris office with partners in fund structuring and tax

They arrive accompanied by eight colleagues, reinforcing the firm’s transactional and fund-structuring capabilities in Europe and internationally.
Édouard Chapellier is a lawyer renowned for his work in investment funds and taxation. He advises companies, private equity funds and banks on domestic and international tax matters and on all aspects of investment fund structuring. His fund-side expertise includes fund structuring, secondary transactions, continuation funds and GP stakes; on the tax side he advises on structuring complex cross-border transactions, LBOs, joint ventures and the taxation of infrastructure and real estate operations. He joins Ropes & Gray as a partner.
Jonathan Abensour has significant experience in transactional tax and in fund structuring and fundraising operations. He joins Ropes & Gray as a partner.
Fabrice Cohen, partner and managing partner of the Paris office and co-head of private equity in Europe, said he was pleased to welcome Édouard and Jonathan, noting that their recognised expertise in investment funds and taxation will add strength to the firm’s private equity and M&A practices and enhance its ability to advise clients on their most complex matters.
Ropes & Gray opened its Paris office in March 2025. With the arrival of Édouard, Jonathan and their team, the office now counts 23 lawyers, including five partners.
