Nadia Darwazeh joins Vanguard International Dispute Resolution

Vanguard International Dispute Resolution has recruited Nadia Darwazeh as a partner. She was until recently partner and head of arbitration in Paris at Clyde & Co. Of German and Jordanian origin and qualified in England & Wales and in Germany, Ms. Darwazeh has more than 25 years of experience in commercial arbitration and investor–state arbitration and also sits regularly as an arbitrator. Her career has taken her from Shearman & Sterling in Frankfurt (2001–2006) to O’Melveny & Myers in Shanghai, where she worked with Michael J. Moser and acquired proficiency in Mandarin. In 2009 she joined the ICC International Court of Arbitration as counsel, leading the Europe–Middle East–Africa team and supervising more than 400 arbitrations. She returned to private practice at Curtis Mallet‑Prevost Colt & Mosle, where she became a partner, before joining Clyde & Co in 2018 to head arbitration in Paris. Ms. Darwazeh has acted in disputes across construction, financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, energy, commodities and luxury goods sectors. As an arbitrator, she recently presided over an ad hoc dispute in the cryptocurrency sector and an ICC case related to an offshore oil project in sub‑Saharan Africa. She has been active in institutional work, serving as Germany’s member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and MARC, sitting on the ICC working group on corruption, contributing to the anti‑corruption toolkit published by the University of Basel in 2019, and serving as secretary general of the Jerusalem Arbitration Center (2012–2019).
She will be joined at Vanguard by associate Rémi Sassine, who has worked at Clyde & Co in Paris since 2021.
