Simmons & Simmons revives funds practice with arrival of Cyril Fiat

A recognised specialist in the structuring, formation and fundraising of investment funds, Cyril Fiat will lead the firm’s funds practice within the Asset Management group headed by Ian Rogers. Simmons & Simmons now counts 34 partners in Paris.
Fiat brings nearly 20 years of experience advising asset managers and asset owners on the structuring and raising of investment funds in France and internationally. His practice covers the establishment and fundraising of private investment funds across a range of asset classes and strategies, including private equity, private debt, venture capital, infrastructure, real estate and funds of funds, and he advises investors on their investments in such vehicles.
He also advises on regulatory matters related to asset management and financial services, counselling management companies, investment firms and financial institutions on compliance with French and European regulations, including sustainable finance issues such as the SFDR, the EU taxonomy and broader ESG requirements applicable to asset managers.
Before joining Simmons & Simmons, Cyril Fiat was a partner at Dechert. He previously served as legal counsel to the World Bank pension fund in Washington, D.C., which manages approximately $27 billion in assets, and worked within the funds practices of major international firms. He is a member of the legal committee of France Invest.
