Jalal El Ahdab joins Fidal Paris as partner in dispute resolution and international arbitration

Jalal (Jil) El Ahdab is an attorney admitted to the bars of Paris, New York and Beirut and has been practising for nearly 30 years. He brings extensive academic, international and practical experience in arbitration, complex litigation and foreign investment disputes. Previously a partner at leading international firms, he led the international arbitration practice of Bird & Bird in Paris for nearly eight years. He has also practised at Ginestié, Magellan and Paley-Vincent, and spent ten years at Orrick where he took part in launching the firm’s arbitration practice. El Ahdab has been involved in more than 250 major disputes across sectors including aviation, energy, infrastructure, telecoms, banking, import‑export, real estate, distribution, ports and airports, and acts for both corporations and States under major institutional rules (ICC, LCIA, CMAP, AFA, DIAC, SIAC, UNCITRAL, ICSID among others). His practice also covers complex transnational litigation, enforcement and annulment of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, economic litigation, collective actions, international investigations, and negotiation of disputes and international contracts. He serves regularly as arbitrator, mediator and expert, and is active institutionally and academically: he holds a doctorate from Paris I Panthéon‑Sorbonne, an LL.M from Columbia Law School, and degrees from Sciences Po and ISG, and has held roles with the ICC International Court of Arbitration, UNCITRAL, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and several arbitration associations and commissions. He practices in French, English and Arabic.
