Gibson Dunn strengthens Paris office with leading investment funds team
"Gibson Dunn hires partners Xavier Comaills, Marie Préat, Élodie Cinconze and Pierre Goyat, plus counsels, in Paris to bolster its investment funds practice advising on fund formation, secondaries, GP stakes and tax structuring."
The team, led by Xavier Comaills, advises asset managers and investors on fund formation, secondary market transactions (initiated by investors or fund managers), GP stakes and tax structures related to funds. They will work closely with Gibson Dunn’s investment funds teams in the United States, London, Dubai and Hong Kong to support cross‑border client needs.
Xavier Comaills joins Gibson Dunn as a partner. He has been ranked Band 1 in Chambers France for investment funds for sixteen consecutive years and is listed in the IFLR Hall of Fame and in Legal 500 for investment funds in France. He advises on the formation and fundraising of private equity, infrastructure and private credit funds across European markets, on secondary transactions initiated by managers or investors, and is a recognised expert on GP stakes.
Marie Préat joins as a partner. She advises asset managers on primary fundraisings, secondary transactions, continuation vehicles and regulatory matters related to private capital strategies. She is noted for her expertise in complex and innovative fund structures, including evergreen and retail products, and regularly supports French and European managers in structuring and launching investment platforms.
Élodie Cinconze joins as a partner. She works on the formation and fundraising of French and pan‑European private equity funds across venture, growth, LBO, secondary, infrastructure, impact, debt and real estate strategies. She has substantial experience in secondary transactions, particularly continuation funds and reinvestment vehicles.
Pierre Goyat joins as a partner. He specialises in tax aspects of fund structuring, management remuneration and carried interest, advising managers on fiscal issues in complex fund‑related transactions. He also regularly advises in M&A matters and has significant sector expertise in energy, infrastructure and transport.
Véronique de Hemmer Gudme, Benjamin Massot and Louis‑Guillaume Cousin join Gibson Dunn’s Paris office as counsels.
