CMS Francis Lefebvre appoints David Guitton as partner
"CMS Francis Lefebvre recruits David Guitton as partner in its IP‑IT/Commercial team to work on electronic communications and digital infrastructure and services."
David Guitton, 37, has more than ten years’ experience in the electronic communications and digital sector in France and in emerging countries, notably in Africa. He will work on the structuring, deployment and operation of digital infrastructures and the provision of associated services, advising on projects such as submarine cables and landing stations, data centres, earth satellite stations, towers and backbone and access networks. He advises on both regulatory and contractual matters, including public‑private partnerships (PPPs), market access issues (licenses and scarce resources), the development of innovative services (particularly in the satellite sector) and digital transformation. His expertise also covers transactional work (M&A, including asset disposals) and contentious and pre‑contentious matters, in particular disputes between operators and states and issues of access to essential infrastructure (commercial, regulatory and competition litigation).
He joins CMS Francis Lefebvre as a partner from Jones Day, where he worked from 2015 to 2026. He previously worked at Bird & Bird (2013–2015) and at the Togolese Ministry in charge of the digital economy (2012).
His activity at CMS will involve close interactions with other teams across the firm and the CMS network, including Corporate/M&A, Financing, Arbitration, Energy, Public Law, Competition, Real Estate and Tax.
David Guitton holds a Master in Law and Economic Globalization from Université Paris 1 Panthéon‑Sorbonne (in partnership with Sciences Po) (2011), an LL.M. in International Business Law from the University of Exeter (2010), and a Licence in Law and a magistère of Franco‑British business lawyer from Université Rennes 1 (2009 and 2014).
With his arrival the firm now counts 123 partners and more than 450 lawyers.
