LPA Tokyo strengthens Japanese M&A and corporate practice with partner Yoshiki Tsurumaki

With more than 23 years of experience in Japanese and international law, Yoshiki Tsurumaki is recognised for his expertise in corporate law and international transactions. His practice covers domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, financings, capital markets, private equity, ESG investments, data centres, real estate and commercial litigation. He has deep knowledge of the Japanese legal and economic environment and substantial experience advising on transactions involving Japan and other Asia-Pacific jurisdictions, including Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Tsurumaki joins LPA Tokyo as a partner from King & Wood, an international Asian firm, where he held a leading role in the Tokyo office’s Japanese law practice. He began his career at Atsumi & Sakai as an attorney, gained in-house experience at NTT Data Corporation and was seconded to Mitsubishi Securities (now Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities). After obtaining an LL.M. from Vanderbilt University Law School, he practised in New York at Dewey & LeBoeuf. A graduate of Waseda University, he is a prolific author and frequent speaker at high-level conferences in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
At LPA Tokyo he will lead the Japanese law practice in Tokyo and work to strengthen synergies with LPA Law’s offices in Europe and Asia. Lionel Vincent, managing partner of LPA Tokyo, said Tsurumaki’s background in M&A, finance and technology law and his knowledge of the Japanese market will significantly enhance the firm’s ability to support Japanese companies with international ambitions and foreign investors entering or expanding in Japan.
