Romain Olivares joins TGS France Avocats as partner in restructuring and business litigation

A lawyer since 2015, Romain Olivares specialises in business restructuring and complex commercial litigation. He holds a Master in Law of Business Difficulties, a Master ALED and a Magistère in Business Law. He developed recognized expertise at Squair, Lantourne & Associés and Paul Hastings and, most recently, at DS Avocats, where he became a partner in 2023.
In his practice he principally advises investment and turnaround funds, shareholders, debtors and their partners in restructurings, insolvency proceedings and strategic litigation. His work also covers governance issues for companies in difficulty, liability claims and support for administrators and judicial representatives in deontological and interprofessional disputes. He also teaches law of business difficulties at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and Université Paris-Est Créteil.
Olivares said he was attracted by the interdisciplinary project of the TGS France group and its Paris accounting subsidiary DSA, which he sees as offering strong prospects in restructuring and litigation by relying on the expertise of finance professionals. He noted that restructuring requires practitioners able to prepare the financial elements of a declaration of cessation of payments (DCP), analyse an Independent Business Review (IBR), assess a company under a best-interests test and prepare operating and cash-flow forecasts, and that business litigation is increasingly oriented toward financial forensics and demanding damage assessment.
His arrival complements the Paris office’s expertise alongside teams specialised in international tax, new technologies and data protection, and public business law. Laurence Vernay and Gauthier Verdon said his appointment strategically strengthens the firm’s capabilities in insolvency proceedings and business litigation and consolidates its interdisciplinary approach in service of SME and mid-cap leaders in Paris and across the country.
