François‑Xavier Awatar began his career in leading international and French law firms. He became a partner at Fidal at age 30 and subsequently joined CMS Francis Lefèbvre as a partner in 2020. He advises major French and international groups, distribution networks, retail chains, investors and investment funds on their development, external growth and transformation projects in France and abroad.
His practice focuses on economic law, both in advisory and litigation, covering commercial contracts; distribution networks including franchise, selective distribution, cooperatives, concessions and intermediary networks; anticompetitive practices such as abuse of dominant position, cartels and economic dependence; merger control; indemnity actions and strategic litigation. He is also closely involved in mergers and acquisitions and private equity, supporting corporate teams and investors on audits of commercial contracts and distribution networks, competition and regulatory risks, and on issues of concentration and network organisation.
