Squire Patton Boggs hires Luis Belart and Fermín Garbayo

"Squire Patton Boggs has hired Luis Belart as partner and Head of Financial Services and Fermín Garbayo as Of Counsel for infrastructure and energy projects in its Madrid office."

Luis Belart and Fermín Garbayo have joined Squire Patton Boggs from Dentons, strengthening the firm’s Madrid office across financial services, infrastructure and energy practices.

Luis Belart joins Squire Patton Boggs as partner and Head of Financial Services. He leaves Dentons after more than a decade, where he was a partner in the Banking and Finance practice. His work focuses on structured and leveraged finance, project finance, acquisition finance, refinancings, restructurings and other domestic and cross-border financing transactions. Belart’s choice of firm had remained open until recently, and he had also been considering another UK law firm before ultimately opting for Squire Patton Boggs. He has separately accepted a role as an independent business development adviser to start-up T&Tech, a position distinct from his return to private practice.

Fermín Garbayo joins as Of Counsel with responsibility for infrastructure and energy projects. Until now he was partner and head of Dentons’ Energy practice in Spain. Garbayo brings more than 25 years of experience advising on energy and infrastructure matters, with a particular focus on the development, acquisition and financing of projects. At Squire Patton Boggs his role will concentrate on infrastructure and energy projects, complementing the firm’s financial services practice and reinforcing its capabilities in transactions where financing, infrastructure and energy intersect.
