Squire Patton Boggs hires former DOJ National Security Division deputy chief Tyler Wood in Washington DC

At the Department of Justice, Mr. Wood served as Deputy Chief of Compliance and Enforcement in the Foreign Investment Review Section of the National Security Division. In that role he helped shape DOJ priorities on Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and Team Telecom matters, served as a principal DOJ representative on foreign investment issues, oversaw investigations and penalty actions involving violations of CFIUS mitigation agreements, and participated in nearly every significant CFIUS penalty since FIRRMA was enacted, including the largest to date. He also led National Security Division teams defending significant national security issues, including cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Earlier, Mr. Wood spent nearly a decade at the Federal Maritime Commission, where he served as General Counsel and advised on regulatory and litigation matters affecting the global maritime transportation and logistics industries. His background also includes Team Telecom reviews and enforcement, advising regulatory officials in the shipping, logistics and telecommunications sectors, private sector practice, and service as a federal judicial law clerk.
Mr. Wood joins Squire Patton Boggs as a partner and will work across the firm’s International Trade and Foreign Investment and Government Investigations and White Collar practices, bringing extensive national security, foreign investment review, enforcement, and maritime regulatory experience.
