Nixon Peabody strengthens Music practice with partner Matt Finkelstein and associate Taylor J. Coley

Matt Finkelstein is a veteran music and intellectual property transactions attorney who advises clients in the music, entertainment, technology, publishing, media and art industries on business matters involving creative works, including licensing, acquisition and sale transactions and a wide array of copyright-related matters. He has a particular focus on the music industry and represents buyers, sellers, creators and investors in transactions involving the purchase and sale of recorded music and music publishing catalogs, royalty streams and other music assets. Finkelstein’s practice will build upon Nixon Peabody’s Corporate practice group, the industry knowledge of its Entertainment & Sports team, and its Intellectual Property practice group’s capabilities in copyright and trademark protection, enforcement and transactions. In private practice he led the award-winning Music practice and the Copyright practice at his prior firm. Among recent recognitions, he was named a Billboard Top Music Lawyer for the fifth consecutive year, represented parties in the multi-billion-dollar BMG and Concord music business combination, has been involved in high-profile advocacy on behalf of notable artists and publishing companies, is ranked Band 1 by Chambers for Media & Entertainment: Music and is Tier 1 in Intellectual Property (Copyright) by The Legal 500. Finkelstein earned his JD from St. John’s University School of Law and a BA from Union College.
Taylor J. Coley, based in Los Angeles, joins Nixon Peabody as an associate and will be a member of the Music practice and the Corporate group.
Their arrivals continue the recent growth of Nixon Peabody’s Entertainment & Sports team.
