Covington & Burling LLP Adds Dita Charanzová and Zeger Vercouteren as Senior Advisors in Brussels

Dita Charanzová brings more than two decades of experience in EU institutions, diplomacy and international relations. She served as Vice‑President of the European Parliament from July 2019 to July 2024 and had been a Member of the European Parliament since July 2014. Earlier in her career she spent eight years in the diplomatic service of the Czech Republic, including four years at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU, and chaired the Trade Policy Committee of the Council of the European Union during the Czech presidency in 2009. At the European Parliament she focused on the digital agenda, consumer protection, the internal market and international trade and played a significant role in negotiations on the Digital Services Act, the European Electronic Communications Code and the General Product Safety Regulation. She joins Covington as a senior advisor from the European Parliament, where her most recent senior roles were Vice‑President and Member of the European Parliament.
Zeger Vercouteren brings over 25 years of experience in the life sciences sector and in government affairs. He most recently served as Vice‑President for Government Affairs & Policy at Johnson & Johnson EMEA and has substantial experience in government affairs, public policy, trade, market access, regulatory affairs and stakeholder engagement. He also served as Chair of AmCham EU from 2020 to 2023. Vercouteren advises multinational companies on EU government affairs, regulatory strategy and public policy, with a focus on navigating complex European and multilateral legislative and regulatory environments. He joins Covington as a senior advisor from Johnson & Johnson EMEA, where he served as Vice‑President for Government Affairs & Policy.
