Jones Day adds tax controversy partner Jennifer Breen in Washington

Jennifer Breen has joined Jones Day as a partner in the firm’s Tax Practice and is based in the firm’s Washington office.

Ms. Breen brings decades of experience across government service, a Big Four public accounting firm, and in-house practice. Before returning to private practice, she served as an attorney with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel’s National Office and as director of tax controversy at Mattel.

She specialises in tax controversy and litigation and represents domestic and multinational businesses, large partnerships, high-net-worth individuals, and family offices in IRS administrative matters. Her practice includes managing IRS audits, presenting protests in IRS Appeals, litigating before the United States Tax Court and other federal courts, and advising on filing and compliance matters, voluntary disclosures, interest and penalty abatement actions, IRS requests and summonses, enforcement proceedings, and joint defense agreements.

At Jones Day she joins the firm’s global Tax Practice, which offers transactional tax planning, tax counseling, and tax controversy and litigation. Ms. Breen is recognised by Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Global Tax Lawyers, International Tax Review’s World Tax Guide, Chambers High Net Worth, Chambers USA, The Legal 500 US, and The Best Lawyers in America. She is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, a member of the J. Edgar Murdock Inn of Court Council, a Director of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation, and Director and Treasurer of the Washington DC Center for Public Interest Tax Law.
