Baker Botts bolsters California corporate platform with M&A partner Joseph Halloum

Halloum brings extensive transactional experience advising on a broad range of matters, including public and private acquisitions, take-privates, carve-outs, growth investments, joint ventures and reorganizations. He regularly counsels boards of directors, senior management and private equity funds on corporate governance and strategic matters. Halloum’s practice is focused on M&A and technology transactions, serving companies and sponsors active in artificial intelligence, software, semiconductors and other critical and emerging technologies. He joins Baker Botts at the partner level and will lead West Coast M&A efforts for the firm.
Deeply embedded in the Bay Area legal community, Halloum teaches M&A at Stanford Law School and Berkeley Law and co‑founded and chairs The GC Roundtable, a forum for California-based general counsels and chief legal officers. His arrival is presented by the firm as accelerating Baker Botts’ California expansion and builds on recent additions to the Bay Area platform, including transactional tax partners Friedemann Thomma and Becca Chappell in San Francisco and the return of Corporate Partner Brian Lee in Palo Alto.
