Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld Adds Former DOJ Senior Trial Counsel Laura Hill to False Claims Act Practice

Laura Hill spent nearly a decade at the Department of Justice’s Civil Fraud Section, where she served as senior trial counsel. She led fraud investigations, settlements and litigation involving health care, defense, government contracts and cybersecurity under the False Claims Act, the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act (FIRREA), the Anti‑Kickback Statute, procurement statutes and common law. While at the DOJ, she also served as a special assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, overseeing prosecution of federal crimes from pre‑arrest through sentencing, including grand jury proceedings and trials. She joins Akin Gump as senior counsel in the regulatory and health care & life sciences practices.
Sara McLean is a former Department of Justice Assistant Director of the Civil Fraud Section and recently joined Akin Gump as a partner in the firm’s regulatory and health care & life sciences practice.
