Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer appoints project finance partner Ben Thompson in Singapore
"Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer has hired Ben Thompson in Singapore as a partner in project finance. He will join the firm's energy, finance and projects teams, focusing on energy and infrastructure financings."
Ben is a project finance lawyer with more than two decades based in Asia and deep experience in financing energy and infrastructure projects across the region. His practice is split between project finance and development work, with a particular focus on conventional power (including LNG-to-power) and renewable power (including hydropower). He has also worked on large petrochemical, FSRU, FPSO, telecoms and water sector financings and has advised both lenders and sponsors.
Ben brings specialist knowledge of MDB/DFI lending in emerging markets and experience on outbound Japanese investments in Asia Pacific. A graduate of the University of Glasgow, he began his career at Linklaters in London and Singapore and later worked at Allen & Overy in Bangkok. He joins Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer from Mayer Brown in Singapore, where he served as Head of Projects & Infrastructure for Asia.
