Sullivan & Cromwell Welcomes Jack Congdon as Partner in Antitrust Practice

Jack Congdon has joined Sullivan & Cromwell LLP as a partner in the Firm’s Antitrust Practice, resident in the Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Congdon returns to Sullivan & Cromwell following more than five years as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, where he litigated significant antitrust enforcement matters. At the DOJ he served as trial counsel in United States v. American Airlines et al., was the lead trial attorney in a Section 1 action against the National Collegiate Athletic Association that resulted in a consent decree and final judgment enjoining its transfer eligibility rules, and was trial counsel in a recent Section 1 information-exchange case that resulted in a landmark consent decree. He also served as trial counsel in multiple merger enforcement actions and led merger investigations across the sports, transportation, technology and media sectors.

Before joining the DOJ in 2021, Mr. Congdon was an associate in Sullivan & Cromwell’s Washington, D.C. office, where he advised clients on merger reviews before the DOJ and FTC and represented companies in complex antitrust and commercial litigation; his practice also included securities, financial services and products liability matters. He joins the Firm as a partner, having most recently served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.
