Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe Adds Obrea Poindexter to Financial Services & Fintech Advisory Practice

Poindexter is recommended by Chambers USA and Chambers Fintech and serves as president of the American College of Consumer Financial Services. She advises large and emerging financial institutions, fintechs and retailers on financial services regulation, privacy and payments systems, counseling on matters related to credit, debit and prepaid cards, electronic banking systems and emerging payments such as mobile and person-to-person payments. She helps clients navigate federal and state payments and lending laws, including state licensing and registration, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the CARD Act, the Truth in Lending Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Electronic Fund Transfer Act and the E-Sign Act.
Poindexter joins Orrick from Cooley. Before entering private practice, she served for five years as a staff lawyer in the Division of Consumer and Community Affairs at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
Her hire follows the recent addition of a team led by Lisa Lanham in Miami as part of Orrick’s continued expansion of its financial services and fintech regulatory practice.
