Paul Hastings Strengthens Global Finance Platform with Private Credit Partner Peter Williams in New York

"Peter Williams joins Paul Hastings in New York as a partner, joining the firm's Global Finance platform to advise on private credit transactions across the capital structure."

Peter Williams has joined Paul Hastings LLP as a partner in New York, strengthening the firm’s Global Finance platform.

Williams joins from Cahill Gordon & Reindel, where he co‑headed the firm’s Chambers‑ranked Private Credit practice. He enters Paul Hastings as a partner and has extensive experience structuring and executing private credit transactions across the capital structure, including traditional first‑lien, unitranche, stretch senior, second‑lien and subordinated‑loan transactions, as well as preferred equity, structured equity and equity co‑investments. He regularly advises leading private credit investors on complex and high‑profile transactions. Prior to Cahill, Williams served as a managing director at KKR, where he worked alongside the senior investment team and oversaw outside counsel’s structuring and documentation of hundreds of acquisition financings and other transactions.

Representative matters cited include advising Francisco Partners in connection with its strategic investment in ActivTrak; representing direct lenders in a unitranche credit facility consisting of $2.65 billion first‑lien term loans, $940 million delayed draw term commitments and $250 million revolving commitments; and representing financing sources in the acquisition of Service Logic by Bain Capital, in partnership with Mubadala Investment Company. He has worked with a blue‑chip base of private credit lenders on transactions ranging from jumbo acquisition financings for firms such as Blackstone Credit and Insurance, Blue Owl and KKR Credit to middle‑market and opportunistic financings for clients including Silver Point Capital and the Credit and Structured Solutions team at Francisco Partners, and has advised digital asset firms such as FalconX on bespoke lending transactions involving digital currencies.

Williams’s arrival reunites him with former colleague Jennifer Daly, chair of Private Credit & Special Situations, and is presented by the firm as a further strengthening of Paul Hastings’ Global Finance platform.
