Simpson Thacher & Bartlett appoints Steven Lorch as Partner in Tax Practice for energy and infrastructure

Lorch advises a broad spectrum of market participants on the U.S. tax aspects of energy and infrastructure transactions, with particular emphasis on renewable power, energy transition, conventional energy, and data center and fiber assets. He will join Simpson Thacher as a Partner and concentrate on tax matters across those sectors.
He regularly handles complex tax equity structures, pre-tax preferred investments and tax credit transfers in connection with U.S. investment and production tax credits. Lorch also advises project owners and developers on the U.S. tax aspects of renewable power and clean energy project development, including issues arising under engineering, procurement and construction agreements, build transfer agreements, equipment supply agreements, and questions of eligibility for U.S. investment and production tax credits, including compliance with prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements and with requirements for bonus credits.
