Eversheds Sutherland hires TMT partner Miguel Barroso and associate Cristina Ramírez

"Eversheds Sutherland hires Miguel Barroso (partner) and Cristina Ramírez (associate) into its Madrid Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice to work on TMT, data protection, IP and related areas."

Miguel Barroso and Cristina Ramírez have joined Eversheds Sutherland as partner and associate, respectively, in the firm's Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) department at its Madrid office. Both lawyers join from Dentons.

Miguel Barroso joins Eversheds Sutherland as a partner. He brings over 15 years of experience advising large corporations, private equity funds and public administrations domestically and internationally on digital transformation, data protection and privacy, technology contracting, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and regulated sectors, as well as litigation and arbitration in these fields. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Barroso served as a partner in the TMT practice at Dentons, where he led the creation and development of that practice in Spain. Before that, he worked as of counsel at Herbert Smith Freehills within the Emerging Technologies, Digital, Data Protection and Regulated Sectors group. He has also held teaching positions in postgraduate programmes and in the Bar Entrance Master’s at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Centro Universitario Villanueva.

Cristina Ramírez joins the firm as an associate. She specialises in intellectual property, data protection, telecommunications, technology contracting and due diligence of technology companies. She previously worked at Cuatrecasas and Herbert Smith Freehills. Ramírez holds a degree in Law and Philosophy from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and completed a Bar Entrance and Business Law Master’s at the Universidad de Navarra.

The two hires reinforce a TMT practice that also includes partner Vicente Arias, as the firm looks to expand its digital regulation capabilities in Spain. Eversheds Sutherland’s Spanish office currently counts 21 partners and around 100 lawyers.
