James H.M. Jamie Sprayregen Joins Paul, Weiss to Co-Lead Restructuring Practice

James H.M. Jamie Sprayregen has joined Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP as a partner and will serve as co-head of the firm’s Restructuring & Debt Capital Solutions practice.

Sprayregen is one of the world’s most widely known restructuring lawyers, bringing more than three decades of experience in corporate restructuring and capital solutions. At Paul, Weiss he will advise domestic and international debtors, creditors and other stakeholders on restructuring matters. He joins the firm as a partner and co-head of the Restructuring & Debt Capital Solutions practice. Prior to joining Paul, Weiss he served in 2024 as Vice Chairman, Global Strategy & Growth at Hilco Global, a diversified financial services company and subsidiary of ORIX Corporation. His career also includes founding the worldwide restructuring practice at another major law firm, co-heading the Restructuring Group at Goldman Sachs from 2006 to 2008, and a subsequent 16-year return to private practice. He has led many of the largest and most complex restructurings in history for a wide range of companies.

Paul M. Basta, who has served as a co-head of the Restructuring & Debt Capital Solutions practice and as a partner since 2017, will step down as a partner from Paul, Weiss at the end of the year as part of a long-term succession plan to pursue the next chapter in his career. Basta has represented diverse clients in major restructuring matters, including Party City, Revlon and Sears.
