Trowers & Hamlins strengthens private capital and family office practice in Singapore with senior hires
"Trowers & Hamlins hires Saravanan Rathakrishnan and Dato' Kunal Chahl in Singapore to bolster private capital, family office and funds practice."
Saravanan Rathakrishnan specialises in investment funds, family office structuring and private equity transactions, with experience advising ultra-high-net-worth individuals across multiple jurisdictions. He regularly advises fund managers on the structuring, offering and regulatory compliance of collective investment schemes, with a particular focus on Singapore VCC platforms and cross-jurisdictional fund arrangements. He joins Trowers & Hamlins as a senior corporate lawyer.
Dato' Kunal Chahl brings extensive experience across corporate and M&A, private equity, private credit and venture capital transactions throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Having worked both in private practice and in-house, he was most recently General Counsel at a Singapore-licensed asset and wealth management firm, where he helped to establish several funds and oversaw their operation. A Malaysia-qualified Singaporean, he joins Trowers & Hamlins as a senior corporate lawyer, further strengthening the firm’s combined Singapore and Malaysia team.
Abdulhaq Mohammed, Head of Asia and Singapore Managing Partner at Trowers & Hamlins, said the appointments align with the firm’s strategic focus on family offices and private capital and enhance its offering in fund structuring and cross-border work for clients in the region.
