Dentons strengthens Germany Energy team with former Bundestag member Dr Stefan Kaufmann

Dr Kaufmann was a member of the German parliament (Bundestag) for 13 years until March 2025. From summer 2020 to August 2022 he served as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s Innovation Commissioner for ‘Green Hydrogen’, contributing to the implementation of the German government’s National Hydrogen Strategy. He has many years of experience in federal politics and in advising leading industrial companies on the energy transition.
At Dentons he will work in the Energy practice, bringing extensive experience in the decarbonisation of energy and industrial systems. He will support clients in expanding production capacities for green hydrogen, establishing storage and transport infrastructure (for example by ship, pipeline or rail), and deploying and integrating hydrogen technologies along the value chain. From his career as a lawyer and politician he brings in‑depth knowledge of regulation and experience working with ministries and authorities, particularly in the planning, approval and implementation of major infrastructure projects.
