Margarita Ríos-Farjat Joins Holland & Knight as Partner in Mexico City and Monterrey

Ms. Ríos-Farjat enters Holland & Knight with the seniority of partner. She most recently served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Mexico from 2019 to 2025 and, prior to that, was head of Mexico's Tax Administration Service (Servicio de Administración Tributaria, SAT). The firm reports that she joined Holland & Knight six months ago and has already integrated into its practices.
Ms. Ríos-Farjat brings extensive experience in constitutional and tax law. Her practice covers administrative matters, government regulation, compliance issues, tax planning and disputes, financial regulation, arbitration, insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings, international judicial cooperation, and complex commercial transactions and disputes. She also has a significant background in human rights and has advised companies, public and private universities, judicial bodies and civil organizations on transparency, accountability, corporate governance, the rule of law and the new judicial structure.
Before her public service career, Ms. Ríos-Farjat practiced at a global law firm for several years and later led her own practice focused on civil, commercial, tax and administrative matters, bankruptcy and transnational litigation, including cross-border service of process and recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.
Ms. Ríos-Farjat holds a doctorate in public policy from Tecnológico de Monterrey, an LL.M. in Tax Law and a J.D. from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.
