Pragma Advogados adds Fernando Fontes as Of Counsel to tax team

Fontes brings a career spanning more than four decades in tax law, combining private practice, public administration and academic teaching. He spent over twenty years at the Tax and Customs Authority (Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira), primarily in tax litigation and tax investigation, which gave him an in‑depth understanding of fiscal administration and decision‑making processes affecting taxpayers and businesses.
Since joining the bar in 2008, Fontes has focused his practice on tax litigation, advising individuals and companies on complex fiscal matters and disputes with the tax authorities.
Alongside his practice, Fontes is active in legal education. He teaches tax procedure, process and litigation at the University of Minho, Católica Porto Business School and the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA) across undergraduate, master’s and postgraduate programmes. He holds a law degree from the University of Minho and a postgraduate qualification in taxation from IPCA.
