K&L Gates Adds Former DOJ and White House Lawyer Sanjeev Bhasker to Public Policy and Law Practice
"K&L Gates has hired Sanjeev Bhasker as a partner in its Public Policy and Law practice in Washington, DC. He will focus on digital assets, emerging technologies, national security, AI and cybersecurity."
Bhasker joins K&L Gates from the US Department of Justice, where he served as US Digital Currency Counsel and Subject Matter Expert focused on digital currency, emerging technologies, and national security matters. He enters the firm as a partner and brings a background in national security, regulatory enforcement, and advanced technology issues, including work addressing artificial intelligence, digital assets, cybersecurity, digital identity, anti-money laundering compliance and ransomware.
Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Bhasker held leadership roles at the White House, including serving as Acting General Counsel in the Office of the National Cyber Director for both the Trump and Biden administrations, where he advised on cybersecurity and emerging technology policy—including AI, blockchain and post-quantum cryptography—and contributed to national policy initiatives and executive actions. He also served as an Assistant United States Attorney, leading cyber and national security investigations, prosecuting complex criminal matters and handling digital asset–related cases.
