De Berti Jacchia appoints Michela D'Avino as partner in International Arbitration

"De Berti Jacchia appoints Michela D'Avino as partner in its International Arbitration team. She brings 20+ years' experience in international arbitration, including post‑M&A, construction, cross‑border disputes and MENA‑focused matters."

Michela D’Avino joins De Berti Jacchia as a partner in the firm’s International Arbitration team.

With more than twenty years of experience, largely devoted to international arbitration (both institutional and ad hoc), D’Avino arrives from the Italian law firm BonelliErede. During her long professional tenure there she was part of the International Arbitration Focus Team and the Shipping, Transport & Logistics Focus Team. She has assisted Italian and international clients in managing complex cross‑border disputes, following all phases of dispute resolution from the definition of pre‑contentious strategy.

Her arbitration practice concentrates particularly on post‑M&A disputes, construction and infrastructure projects, and international commercial contracts. She advises clients across several industrial sectors, including energy and infrastructure, services, and fashion and luxury, and has developed significant experience in arbitrations involving the MENA region, a primary area of her specialization. Since 2022 she has been included in the pool of professionals selected by the European Commission as eligible for appointment as arbitrator in bilateral disputes under the EU’s trade agreements with third countries. She has also strengthened her international profile through a period of secondment at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York and London.

Michelangelo Cicogna, partner and head of De Berti Jacchia’s International Arbitration practice, commented that D’Avino’s arrival represents an important reinforcement of the firm’s arbitration practice and that her international arbitration experience and knowledge of strategic markets and sectors will further expand the team’s capabilities in advising clients in complex international disputes.
