DLA Piper adds Partner Abrar Hussain to Emerging Growth and Venture Capital team in Palo Alto
"DLA Piper has hired Abrar Hussain as a partner in its Emerging Growth and Venture Capital practice in Palo Alto. He will work on venture capital and life sciences matters, joining from Samsara BioCapital."
Hussain brings more than 25 years of experience across investment funds, biotechnology and financial services. He specialises in emerging growth and venture capital matters and advises on fund formation, operations, fundraising, limited partnership negotiations, portfolio company support, complex mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, licensing and cross-border transactions. He joins DLA Piper as a partner from Samsara BioCapital, where he served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of the hybrid public/private biotech investment firm, which managed approximately US$2.1 billion in assets and more than 100 portfolio companies.
Hussain’s arrival further strengthens DLA Piper’s capabilities across life sciences, venture capital and the broader innovation economy and reflects the firm’s continued investment in its West Coast Corporate practice; in the last 18 months the firm has added partners Josh Seidenfeld, John Hutar, Frances Mosley, Brady Berg, Ken Funahashi, Sarah Chambless and Michael Dorf.
