Cooley Adds Former Federal Prosecutor Tom Peabody to Chicago Litigation Team
"Tom Peabody joins Cooley in Chicago to work in commercial litigation and white collar defense and investigations."
Peabody brings substantial federal experience and trial credentials to Cooley’s commercial litigation and white collar defense and investigations practices. He clerked for Judge Amy J. St. Eve, first on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and then on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. In September 2020 he joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, and since July 2025 he has served as Deputy Chief for National Security and Cybercrime, where he led and supervised grand jury investigations and tried cases to verdict involving computer hacking, crypto-related offenses, sanctions evasion, export violations, terrorism, interstate threats, and state-sponsored and economic espionage.
He is the third former federal prosecutor to join Cooley’s Chicago office since its founding in 2021, alongside Matthew Kutcher and Tiana Demas.
