Paul Hastings Adds Chambers-Ranked Securities Litigator Jennifer Burns Luz in Boston
"Paul Hastings has hired Chambers-ranked securities litigator Jennifer Burns Luz as a partner in Boston to join its Securities Litigation practice, focusing on securities litigation and investigations."
Luz is a Chambers-ranked securities litigator and an experienced trial lawyer arriving from Goodwin. She represents public and private companies in the life sciences, technology and financial services industries, as well as trustees, officers and other individuals, in securities litigation and investigations. Her practice covers class action defense, derivatives litigation, stockholder disputes, fiduciary duty claims, corporate governance matters, M&A-related litigation, and SEC, FINRA and internal investigations. Luz regularly handles issues arising under the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Investment Company Act of 1940, including disclosure, fraud, accounting and trading issues.
Among her recent successes, Luz secured a full trial victory for independent trustees of Eaton Vance against claims brought by an activist investor concerning antitakeover bylaw provisions, and she defeated two separate motions for preliminary injunction brought against Cedar Realty Trust by preferred stockholders seeking to block a $1.2 billion merger.
