Real estate and construction transactional partner Melissa Billig joins Jones Day in New York

Ms. Billig is an accomplished transactional attorney, construction litigator, and strategic business counselor with more than 25 years of experience advising clients in the development of major real estate projects throughout New York and nationwide. Her practice encompasses real estate and construction transactional work and litigation, including drafting and negotiating contracts, risk management counsel, claim avoidance, and dispute resolution. She has worked on high-profile, multi-party contract disputes and defective design and construction claims, and has represented clients in connection with large commercial and residential development projects in Manhattan.
Ms. Billig joins Jones Day's global Real Estate Practice as a partner, becoming part of a team of 130 lawyers who provide comprehensive advice across all stages of real estate investment and all major real estate sectors, with collaboration across funds, joint ventures, M&A, finance, development, tax, regulatory, planning/zoning, and environmental matters.
Ms. Billig earned her law degree from Brooklyn Law School and her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is recognized in Chambers and Partners for New York Construction Law and in Best Lawyers for Construction Law and Litigation—Construction, has been listed by New York Magazine as a Top Women Leader in the Law, and was named a Notable Leader in Real Estate by Crain's New York Business.
