Squire Patton Boggs appoints Lorena Fatás as partner in Madrid

Fatás joins Squire Patton Boggs from the Special Department of Economy, Energy and Environment of the Spanish State Legal Service (Abogacía del Estado). She enters the firm with the seniority of partner and will work in the Litigation practice.
Prior to her role at the Abogacía del Estado, Fatás spent more than five years in the International Arbitration Department of the Spanish Government, where she was appointed Deputy Head in 2021. Her career has focused on complex litigation, arbitration and regulatory issues linked to economic policy, the energy transition and environmental regulation. Her practice covers investor–state disputes under the Energy Charter Treaty and bilateral investment treaties, investment and commercial disputes, sovereign state representation, advisory work across banking, energy, infrastructure and public enterprises, and the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards across multiple jurisdictions. Fatás has also participated in a UNCITRAL working group on the reform of the ISDS system and has experience with arbitral institutions including ICSID and the SCC.
