Holland & Knight Strengthens Texas State and Local Tax Practice with Additions of Sam Megally, William LeDoux and Cindy Ohlenforst

"Holland & Knight adds Sam Megally, William LeDoux (partners) and Cindy Ohlenforst (senior counsel) to its Dallas Tax, Executive Compensation and Benefits group to bolster State and Local Tax (SALT) work in tax planning, controversy, incentives and government relations."

Sam Megally, William LeDoux and Cindy Ohlenforst have joined Holland & Knight's Dallas office as members of the firm's Tax, Executive Compensation and Benefits Practice Group.

Sam Megally has joined Holland & Knight as a partner. He focuses his State and Local Tax (SALT) practice on Texas and multistate matters, particularly tax planning and controversies involving income tax, sales tax, franchise tax and property tax, and government relations matters involving taxing agencies and state legislatures. He advises clients on SALT planning in connection with structuring matters, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial transactions, and has represented taxpayers in administrative proceedings and litigation against the Texas Comptroller, other state departments of revenue and local taxing jurisdictions. He is consistently recognized by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America and The Legal 500. Mr. Megally was previously a partner at K&L Gates.

William LeDoux has joined Holland & Knight as a partner. His broad SALT practice includes Texas and multistate matters and state and local incentives, with work involving incentives for data centers, renewable energy and other capital-intensive projects. He has represented taxpayers across industries including e-commerce retailers, renewable energy companies, healthcare companies, manufacturers, software and technology companies, data center developers and operators, and travel companies. He is recognized by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 and was named to The Best Lawyers in America’s "Ones to Watch" list for tax litigation and controversy in 2022. He currently serves as chair of the State and Local Tax Committee of the State Bar of Texas Tax Section. Mr. LeDoux was previously a partner at K&L Gates.

Cindy Ohlenforst has joined Holland & Knight as senior counsel. She has a broad tax practice involving planning and controversy work nationwide, including litigation and administrative proceedings and legislative work. She frequently works with the energy, technology, broadcasting, transportation and airline industries and has worked with legislators on drafting multiple provisions of the Texas Tax Code. Her recognitions include the 2018 Outstanding Texas Tax Lawyer award from the Tax Section of the State Bar of Texas and The Best Lawyers in America Tax "Lawyer of the Year" in Dallas/Fort Worth in 2017; she is also recognized by Chambers USA and The Legal 500. Ms. Ohlenforst was previously senior of counsel at K&L Gates.
