Derek Steingarten Joins Alston & Bird as Investment Funds Partner in New York
"Derek Steingarten has joined Alston & Bird in New York as a partner in its Investment Funds Group, where he will work on fund formation, regulatory compliance, and asset and wealth management transactions."
He brings 25 years of experience advising registered and private fund sponsors and institutional asset managers on a range of investment products and business models. His practice covers fund formation, capital raising, marketing, governance, and regulatory compliance across hedge funds, private equity and credit funds, separately managed accounts, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), interval funds, business development companies (BDCs), and other registered vehicles. He also has extensive experience with alternative investment products designed for wealth management channels.
Steingarten advises clients on U.S. federal securities laws, including the Investment Advisers Act and the Investment Company Act, and counsels clients on Securities and Exchange Commission examinations, investigations, enforcement matters, and related disputes. He also serves as regulatory and investment management counsel on wealth and asset management transactions, including acquisitions, lift-outs, strategic combinations, and restructurings.
