Licks Attorneys appoints Anicet Okinga as Senior Consultant in Pharmaceutical Patents

Okinga has a multidisciplinary background in dentistry, pharmacy and research in clinical and experimental physiopathology, with scientific expertise in pharmacology, neuroscience, inflammation, metabolism and bioactive compounds. He joins Licks Attorneys with the seniority of Senior Consultant in Pharmaceutical Patents.
From 2017 to 2026 Okinga served as a patent examiner in the Pharmaceuticals Division of Brazil’s National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), where he conducted technical examinations of applications related to pharmaceutical compounds, formulations, drug delivery systems and medical uses. His prior seniority at INPI was patent examiner.
His academic training includes the Cycle Long “Brevets d’invention” programme at the Université de Strasbourg (UNISTRA) and courses offered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Patent Academy covering patent drafting, examination procedures, unity of invention and European patent law. Beyond his technical and academic work, Okinga served as Honorary Councillor of the State Council for the Rights of Black People and Racial Equality Promotion of Rio de Janeiro (CEDINE-RJ), collaborated with the Racial Equality Commission of OAB/RJ, presided over the Careers and Positions Commission at INPI between 2021 and 2023, and obtained the LideraGov 4.0 certification focused on public leadership and innovation.
