Lavez Coutinho adds tax partner Jatyr Gomes

"Lavez Coutinho appoints Jatyr Gomes as a tax partner to bolster its indirect taxation and Tax Reform practice."

Jatyr Gomes has joined Lavez Coutinho as a tax partner, reinforcing the firm’s indirect taxation and Tax Reform practice as Brazilian companies face mounting complexity from the country’s ongoing Tax Reform.

Gomes brings more than 15 years of experience in indirect taxation, encompassing both advisory work and administrative litigation at the federal, state and municipal levels. He has advised large domestic and multinational companies across sectors including energy, automotive, premium beverages, agriculture and biotechnology, technology, telecommunications and mining on complex and strategic tax matters.

His practice covers a broad range of indirect taxes, including ICMS, IPI, ISS, ITBI, ITCMD and IPTU, and encompasses tax consulting, tax audits, administrative defenses, objections and appeals, fiscal reviews, tax planning, due diligence, tax compliance projects and portfolio coordination.

Gomes holds a master’s degree in Tax Law from Fundação Getulio Vargas, with research focused on the taxation of the data economy. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Law from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, where he completed his undergraduate studies, and is currently a professor on the postgraduate programme at IBDT.
