Stephenson Harwood appoints Juan Oñate managing partner in Madrid

Juan Oñate is a restructuring and insolvency specialist joining Stephenson Harwood from Pérez-Llorca as managing partner of the Madrid office. He has experience advising on cross-border insolvency and restructuring matters, including the negotiation and approval of restructuring agreements, the purchase and recovery of non-performing loan portfolios, the defence of clawback actions and directors' liability claims, M&A in pre-insolvency and insolvency situations, and civil and commercial litigation. His client base spans listed companies, major Spanish corporate groups, foreign investors, funds and banks. Stephenson Harwood said the appointment marks a key step in its strategy to build a full-service presence in Spain and the wider Iberian market, and CEO Eifion Morris noted the firm has an "exciting group of lawyers lined up to join" in Madrid.
Partners Jesús Almoguera, Carlos Gonzalez and Eduardo Vazquez have joined Stephenson Harwood from the Spanish boutique firm J Almoguera Abogados. The firm previously announced their move to Stephenson Harwood.
