Simmons & Simmons launches Belgian tax practice with partner hire Laurent Voisot
"Simmons & Simmons has appointed Laurent Voisot as partner in Brussels to launch its Belgian tax practice. He will work on direct tax for financial institutions, transactional support and regulatory queries."
Laurent joins Simmons & Simmons from a "big four" firm, where he led the direct tax team within the Financial Services Industry practice. He has over fifteen years’ experience, including a decade at "magic circle" law firms. His practice specialises in Belgian tax implications for financial institutions, transactional support and regulatory queries. He is recognised for his technical tax knowledge and his ability to deliver innovative solutions to a diverse range of clients, including global asset managers, financial institutions and insurers. He enters Simmons & Simmons as a partner; at his previous employer he held the role of head of the direct tax team.
The firm says the appointment will enable its Brussels office to offer a full-service platform providing sophisticated in-house tax advice and to support the seamless execution of complex cross-border transactions involving Belgian assets, strengthening Simmons & Simmons’ positioning in the Belgian and European markets on complex European direct tax matters.
