Squire Patton Boggs Welcomes Richard Potomac to Dallas Financial Services Practice

Mr. Potomac advises financial institutions and fintech companies on complex regulatory, transactional and compliance matters, including commercial and technology transactions, payments law, corporate governance and financial regulatory strategy. He joins Squire Patton Boggs from JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he served as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel for the Payments business. He brings more than a decade of experience across the private sector and the federal government. Prior roles include in‑house positions at two large public banks supporting payments operations, negotiating complex agreements and advising on data protection, electronic payments and third‑party risk; service as a senior attorney at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where he advised on regulatory, licensing and enforcement matters and supported the agency’s responsible financial innovation initiative; and practice at another global law firm counseling financial institution clients on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and regulatory engagements.
Mr. Potomac earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
