A&O Shearman adds partner W. Andrew Lanius to lead U.S. energy and infrastructure finance in Houston

A&O Shearman today announced that partner W. Andrew Lanius has joined the firm’s Energy, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure (ENRI) practice in Houston, where he will serve as head of U.S. energy and infrastructure finance. The firm has also recently expanded its U.S. teams with a series of lateral hires across multiple offices, including additions in Dallas, Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C.

W. Andrew Lanius joins A&O Shearman as a partner to lead U.S. energy and infrastructure finance. He has built a lender- and sponsor-facing finance practice at the intersection of private capital and energy and infrastructure, combining origination capabilities with execution expertise. He will enhance the firm’s energy and infrastructure finance and private credit offerings and has joined from Simpson Thacher.

Paul Astolfi has joined the firm’s ENRI practice in Dallas as a lateral hire. The announcement identifies him as part of the firm’s U.S. ENRI expansion.

Katy McNeil has joined the firm’s ENRI practice in Chicago. She bolstered the firm’s renewables and energy transition offering and established its new Chicago presence.

Valentine Bleicher joined the Chicago office from Kirkland & Ellis, further deepening the firm’s private equity and M&A capabilities.

Michael Kim has joined the firm’s Capital Markets team in New York. He was formerly head of Americas Capital Markets Legal at Morgan Stanley.

Ned Schodek has rejoined A&O Shearman in the Restructuring practice, returning from Schulte Roth & Zabel.

Jan Sysel has joined from Fried Frank to lead the firm’s U.S. fund finance practice.

Nick Ramphal has rejoined the firm’s M&A team from Cadwalader to support the expanding U.S. M&A offering.

Catherine Hein has joined the Washington, D.C. office to strengthen the firm’s CFIUS offering; she is a former senior U.S. Department of the Treasury official and national security lawyer.

Kathryn Mims has joined the Washington, D.C. office from White & Case to support the firm’s U.S. antitrust practice.
