"Kuits Solicitors has appointed Dr Craig Brownlie as a consultant patent attorney in its intellectual property team; he will work on patent drafting, filing and prosecution, with expertise in software and computer-implemented inventions."
Craig is an experienced UK and European patent attorney with a technical background in physics and materials science. He enters Kuits as a consultant patent attorney and brings a career spanning patent drafting, prosecution and contentious proceedings. He has advised clients ranging from early-stage startups and spinouts to large corporates and has worked closely with overseas counsel on cross-border matters.
His practice will focus on drafting, filing and obtaining patents across a wide range of technologies, including autonomous vehicles, satellite navigation, nanotechnology, energy storage, telecommunications, robotics and medical devices, with particular expertise in software patents and computer-implemented inventions.
Bruce Jones, Head of Intellectual Property at Kuits, said the appointment enables the firm to offer a complete IP service by combining its litigation and transactional experience with full-service rights acquisition covering trade marks, designs and patents, and that Craig’s expertise in solid state physics and materials science complements the firm’s existing physics and biochemistry capabilities.
