Barnes & Thornburg Welcomes Kathryn Cobb as Partner in Chicago Associations and Nonprofits Practice
"Barnes & Thornburg has hired Kathryn Cobb as a partner in its Chicago Associations and Nonprofits practice, where she will advise trade and professional associations and public charities."
Cobb brings extensive experience advising trade and professional associations and public charities on a wide range of legal and operational matters. She regularly serves as outside general counsel, supporting leadership teams on corporate governance, compliance, employment, fundraising, intellectual property and risk management. She joins Barnes & Thornburg as a partner.
Before joining the firm, Cobb practiced at an Am Law 200 firm and served as chief legal officer for an international sorority, advising on complex legal, governance and operational issues and gaining direct insight into the pressures facing nonprofit leadership. Her background informs her counsel on board development, crisis response, data security, investigations and tax considerations.
The hire expands Barnes & Thornburg’s Chicago office following the addition last month of corporate partner Elizabeth Davis.
Cobb earned her law degree from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Denver.
