DLA Piper welcomes Partner Robert Fettman to Structured Finance practice

"DLA Piper has hired Partner Robert Fettman into its Structured Finance practice in New York to bolster insurance regulatory and structured finance work, including insurance investments, ILS, capital solutions and Insurtech."

Robert Fettman has joined DLA Piper as a Partner in the firm’s Structured Finance practice, based in the New York office.

Fettman’s practice sits at the crossroads of insurance and financial services. He brings deep experience advising on a full range of US insurance regulatory matters, including the regulatory treatment of investments, product development and filing strategies, corporate governance, compliance and licensing requirements. Clients seek his guidance on evolving National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) rules and on state-level implementation of insurance holding company and investment-related regulations and examinations.

In addition to his core regulatory work, Fettman advises on transactional matters involving insurance companies and intermediaries. He has substantial experience guiding public and private insurers, private equity sponsors and pension funds through complex acquisitions, minority investments and other strategic transactions in the life and property/casualty sectors. He also maintains a strong focus on insurance technology (Insurtech), advising established insurers and venture capital firms on the regulatory implications of emerging technologies.

DLA Piper said Fettman’s addition reinforces the firm’s capabilities in high-stakes financial transactions and related regulatory matters, including insurance company investments, insurance-linked securities and capital solutions.
