DLA Piper appoints Itxaso López as partner in Madrid real estate team

"DLA Piper hires Itxaso López as partner in its Madrid real estate department; she will work on national and cross-border real estate transactions across multiple asset classes with ESG and urban planning expertise."

Itxaso López has joined DLA Piper as a partner in its real estate department in Madrid. The move was announced on 21 April 2026.

López brings more than 20 years of experience advising international investors on national and multi-jurisdictional real estate transactions. She joins DLA Piper from Dentons, where she had been a partner since 2022. A graduate of the Universidad de Deusto, her practice covers the acquisition, financing and development of offices, logistics warehouses, hotels, shopping centres, residential assets and land for development. She has particular expertise in urban planning, asset management and construction and in recent years has played an active role in European ESG initiatives within the real estate legal sector.

López is a member of Women in Real Estate Spain (WIRES) and Women in a Legal World (WLW), participating in mentoring programmes and working groups focused on advancing female talent in the legal sector. Since 2025 she has taught international students on the Master in Real Estate Development programme at the IE School of Architecture and Design.

José María Oliva, partner and head of real estate in Spain at DLA Piper, said that López’s experience in complex domestic and cross-border transactions, together with her strategic market vision, aligns with the firm’s growth ambitions and technical standards and will strengthen the practice’s ability to support clients on sophisticated real estate challenges.
