BMA adds three lawyers to intellectual property and privacy teams
"BMA hires Rita Milhões (intellectual property), Rita Ferreira (privacy/data protection) and trainee Beatriz Domingues Pereira; Milhões joins IP, Ferreira will work in privacy focusing on GDPR and cybersecurity."
Rita Milhões joins the intellectual property department at BMA as an associate. She brings over 15 years of experience advising on trademarks, designs and copyright, as well as related litigation. Throughout her career she worked as a lawyer and industrial property consultant at Simões, Garcia, Corte-Real & Associados between 2008 and 2020, and at J.E. Dias Costa between 2022 and 2026. She has also held general counsel positions in international groups. Milhões is an official industrial property agent and a representative before the EUIPO.
Rita Ferreira joins the privacy department at BMA as an associate with a specialised profile in data protection and technology. She holds a law degree from the University of Coimbra and a master’s in business and corporate law from the Catholic University of Porto, together with several postgraduate qualifications in data protection, intellectual property and law and technology. She developed her practice with a strong focus on GDPR matters during her time at PRA, undertaking audits and implementation projects for public and private entities. Ferreira has also acted as a data protection officer, notably in the healthcare sector and in local administration, and has experience in cybersecurity work under regulatory frameworks such as NIS2 and DORA. She is currently chapter chair of the OneTrust community in Lisbon.
Beatriz Domingues Pereira begins her career at BMA as a trainee lawyer, having completed her law degree at NOVA School of Law and a master’s in litigation and arbitration.
