Freeths expands Construction and Energy teams with Director Jon Baker

"Freeths has appointed Jon Baker as Director in its Construction & Engineering practice; he will work on clean energy and major infrastructure projects including solar, BESS, wind and transport schemes."

Jon Baker has joined Freeths as a Director in the firm’s Construction & Engineering practice, joining from BELECTRIC UK.

Jon is a specialist in drafting and negotiating contracts for the construction and operation of infrastructure assets. He brings extensive advisory experience across solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), onshore and offshore wind, biogas and a broad range of major schemes encompassing roads, rail and airports. He joins Freeths at Director level from BELECTRIC UK.

His background includes in-house positions with a solar engineering, procurement and construction contractor, an offshore wind developer, a BESS developer and Transport for London, giving him insight into procurement and project delivery processes from both private and public sector perspectives. This technical knowledge and practical project experience is intended to enhance Freeths’ national Construction & Engineering capability and support its strategic focus on clean energy and infrastructure.

Partner and Head of Construction & Engineering Chris Holwell said Jon’s experience across clean energy generation and large-scale infrastructure procurement strengthens the firm’s ability to support clients delivering technically challenging projects and that he will play a key role as the team expands nationally. Jon Baker said he was delighted to join Freeths and looks forward to contributing to the team amid growing momentum behind clean energy and major capital projects.
