Ashley Chung Rejoins Winston & Strawn as Partner in Chicago Appellate & Critical Motions Group

As the former Deputy Chief of Appeals and an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois, Chung supervised the Criminal Division’s appellate section, edited and authored dozens of Seventh Circuit briefs, and argued multiple appeals. In the district courts she served as first and second chair in jury and bench trials, suppression hearings, sentencings, and other key litigation. During her tenure at the U.S. Attorney’s Office she prosecuted more than 50 cases, including matters involving public corruption, financial fraud, money laundering, child exploitation, and violent crime, and oversaw strategy from investigation through charging, pre-trial litigation, plea negotiations or trials, and sentencing.
Prior to her public service, Chung worked at Winston as a litigation associate handling complex commercial litigation, white-collar and regulatory-facing matters, and internal investigations. She also previously clerked for judges on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
